Bertelsmann Profit Rises on Music Publishing Sale, Acquisitions (Bloomberg.com)
March 21 (Bloomberg) — Bertelsmann AG, Europe’s largest media company, said profit more than doubled last year helped by the sale of its music publishing unit and as acquisitions of book, DVD and magazine assets bolstered sales.

BERLIN -(Dow Jones)- Bertelsmann AG, Europe’s largest media company by sales, Wednesday said its net profit more than doubled in 2006 as it benefited from gains on disposals, but it also warned of a continuing decline in the recorded music industry in coming years.

York hip-hop store Xclusive Music was named the Best Music Store Friday night at the Central PA Hip Hop Awards in Harrisburg. Owner Ray Harris, aka Ecko, said he was shocked at the win because his store, at 256 W. Philadelphia St., has only been open a year.
